Church project moves forward (11/19/10)
Earthmoving work has begun on a new building for the Monett Community Church east of the municipal Justice Center on Cleveland. Construction of a 10,500-square-foot building is expected to be done by next summer. "We feel very blessed to be at this point," said Robin Walker, one of the church's six elders that include Pastor Chad Bennett. "It was in our 10-year plan to be in our own building. Now seemed to be a good time to move forward."...

Freistatt to seek new water operator (11/19/10)
Freistatt Village Trustees agreed to advertise for a new water and wastewater operator at their November meeting upon receiving the resignation of operator Charles Stearns from the village's only utilities position. Stearns said he would submit his formal letter of resignation at the December meeting but wanted to give the village plenty of notice. He offered to stay available in the short term to help with problems that might arise...
"Gypsies" still scamming area (11/19/10)
A Purdy woman who had been a victim of a roofing scam was a topic of discussion at the Barry-Lawrence Crime Stoppers November meeting. The victim reported to Purdy Chief of Police Jackie Lowe that three men came to her home and told her that they knew the home had previously had roof work done and they were there to complete a warranty check...
Monett High School hosts fall sport banquet (11/19/10)
Monett High School held its annual awards ceremony Tuesday night. Monett athletes and their families were treaed to a catered meal sponsored by the Monett Athletic Booster Club. Six fall sports were recognized during the event. The evening was highlighted by recognition of 26 four-year participants, introduction of the Big 8 All-Conference selections and individual team recognition awards...
