Five arrested in connection with Monett area burglaries (11/17/10)
One adult and four juveniles have been taken into custody in connection with two burglaries at auto shops in Monett. Monett Police responded on Monday to a reported burglary at Wellbaum Tire on Central over the weekend. Owner Gary Wellbaum reported burglars had gained entry by breaking a window. An estimated $150 in cash and a 2009 Nissan Sentra were taken, along with the car's keys. The Sentra did not have a driver's seat...
Recycling program nabs grant (11/17/10)
The Purdy High School Spanish Club, which operates an industrial recycling project that serves the community, has received a $900 Student Wellness Grant from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks' Rural Schools Partnership program. The grant money will be used to expand the club's research on community food sustainability issues, according to Gerry Wass, faculty advisor for the Purdy project. ...

A Purdy teenager who faces involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with a fatal crash, waived her right to a formal arraignment in Barry County Circuit Court on Monday. Nicole Sienna Wood, 17, appeared in court with her attorney John Lewright, of Cassville. After waiving her arraignment, Wood was ordered to return to court on Jan. 18, 2011, at 9 a.m. Her bond of $15,000 was continued...
Purdy's Swadley inks with MSSU (11/17/10)
Purdy's Brooke Swadley signed a national letter of intent to play softball for Missouri Southern State University last Monday. Swadley chose Southern over William Jewell and Missouri Western.
