Local voters follow most state trends (11/03/10)
Monett area voters generally followed statewide trends in yesterday's election. Republicans who traditionally run well carried the races in the bi-county area. The election generated a strong turnout with no contested county races. Barry County Clerk Gary Youngblood reported 10,743 voters cast ballots or a 51.5 percent turnout. Community Kitchen is ready to serve meals (11/03/10)
Volunteers were ready last evening at the First United Methodist Church for the opening of the Community Kitchen. The first person coming to eat did not arrive for about 15 minutes after the 5:30 p.m. opening. "We didn't know what to expect," said Steven Stidham, co-chairman of the Kitchen with Charlene Dent. Property review is underway in Barry County (11/03/10)
The Barry County Assessor' Office is currently conducting a review of the county as mandated by the Missouri State Tax Commission. Once again, the Barry County Sheriff's Department is accepting donations for its annual Angel Tree campaign to benefit children of Barry County during the holiday season. Names of children in need in Barry County will be placed on a Christmas tree at the Barry County Sheriff's Department in Cassville. Soccer season ends in district play (11/03/10)
The Monett Cubs soccer team (8-14) fell 3-1 to the Cassville Wildcats in district soccer action Tuesday night. "This was a tough one," said Monett Head Coach Jeremy Wilson. "We didn't capitalize on our opportunities, and Cassville did."
