Upward trend continues at Monett Airport (10/06/10)
Activity at the Monett Municipal Airport has continued at record levels throughout the summer. Numbers for take-offs and landings is at the highest level in six years. Total activity during the business week for 2010 is up 28 percent. Camp Barnabas breaks ground on medical facility (10/06/10)
Country music star Joe Nichols recently took on a team of fifth graders on the celebrity edition of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader," tackling a variety of subjects ranging from geography to social studies. Nichols played for his favorite charity, Camp Barnabas, located near Purdy, winning $125,000 for the camp that caters to young people with special needs. His younger sister, Kelli, has attended the camp for several years...

For five Monett Lady Cubs softball players Tuesday night's 14-0 win over Wheaton marked the last time they set foot on their home field during the regular season. "These girls have been wonderful," said Monett Head Coach Ty Goetz. "They have provided leadership for the younger players, and they are just fun to be around. This week has been very nice to the Monett Lady Cubs volleyball team. Monett remained perfect in Big 8 conference play (13-10 overall, 3-0 in the Big 8) by defeating Seneca 25-16, 25-18 Tuesday night and besting Aurora 25-15, 25-15 on Monday. "The girls are getting better with each match," said Monett Lady Cubs Coach Shyrah Perry. "Volleyball is a game of emotional highs and lows. The Monett Cubs soccer team fell 3-0 to the Central Bulldogs Monday night. For 78 minutes of the game the Cubs were within one goal and had numerous opportunities to tie the score.
