Plans advancing for a community kitchen in Monett (10/04/10)
Plans for a community kitchen and an outreach to homeless people in Monett were shared at last week's meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club. Food levels low at Crosslines pantry (10/04/10)
Food pantry levels are presently low at Crosslines. "We would really appreciate food donation drives at this time," said Jolene Garoutte, Crosslines director. Higher electricity rates from Empire District Electric for August service reaching customers in September put a major stress on lower income residents, Garoutte said. Some opted to pay the bill and let food supplies run down. Some have been running out of food and turning to Crosslines for help...
Barry County Health Department joins pilot state program (10/04/10)
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has invited Barry County Health Department environmental public health specialist Jan Cox to participate in a pilot inspection program. Six hurt in weekend wrecks (10/04/10)
An Anderson man was hurt in a single vehicle crash on Highway 86 at Eagle Rock on Sunday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Melvin Dorsey, 65, was driving east in a 2010 Ford F250 when the pickup traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned. Dorsey was not wearing a seat belt and received serious injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark. for treatment...

For the second consecutive year the Monett Lady Cubs tennis team won the Big 8 Conference Tennis Tournament. Monett defeated Mt. Amanda "Emilene" Cook, age 82, of Cassville, died at 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 1. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 4 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial was in Maplewood Cemeter in Exeter.
