Fire destroys historic Pierce City home (08/02/10)
Firefighters from Pierce City and Monett fought a structure fire at 500 N. Walnut in Pierce City on Friday. According to Pierce City Fire Chief Andy Hogenmiller, fire in the two-story home, dating to the 1890s, was spotted by a neighbor about 6:30 p.m. The owners were not home. Verona R-6 Board reviews construction (08/02/10)
Construction progress on the old Verona High School building was reviewed as school board members took stock of preparations for the coming year at the July board meeting. Superintendent William Sweet said the roof on the new addition replacing the locker rooms was expected to be finished once block work was done.
