Bonds for school project are ready to sell (07/09/10)
The Monett R-1 Board of Education has approved the issuance and sale of $4.5 million in bonds approved by voters on April 6. UMB Bank has purchased $620,000 of the bonds. Three different types of bonds have been approved for sale: $2,266075 in general obligation bonds; $1,973,925 in Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCBs); and $260,000 in Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZABs). Traffic crash claims life of Verona man (07/09/10)
A Verona man was killed in a single vehicle crash shortly after 10:30 p.m. on July 7 on Farm Road 2225, near Verona. According to the report from the Aurora Rural Fire Association, Edward Koehler, 55, was in a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck that drove off a curvy road and struck a tree. Koehler was transferred by helicopter to a Springfield hospital, where he died. The other person in the pickup was not injured...
