Area sales tax numbers are mixed (07/01/10)
Sales tax revenues in June showed a mixed economic picture. Eight of 13 bi-county cities receiving sales tax income showed gains over last June. Totals for the first half of 2010 show receipts are generally down 3 to 5 percent. Monett reflected the variability in tax revenues. Monett's two sales taxes for general expenses brought in $163,626.56 for the month, down $7,313.35 from last June. Monett's totals have bested 2009 numbers in three of the last six months...
Monett Police launches DWI campaign (07/01/10)
For the month of July, the Monett Police Department will be participating in another campaign aimed at stopping people from driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. The "You Drink & Drive. You Lose" effort will be funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Division...
Senator's home robbed; reward is being offered (07/01/10)
A reward is being offered for information about a recent burglary at the Cassville home of Senator Emory Melton. According to Jay Jastal, with the Barry/Lawrence Crime Stoppers, the burglary occurred on June 13. Items stolen from the Melton home ncluded 400 state quarters, several pairs of cuff links, a pocket watch and personalized envelopes...
