Monett R-1 Board prepares for construction (06/03/10)
The Monett R-1 Board of Education made preparations for construction at Monett Elementary School and made funding adjustments in light of actions by the recently concluded State General Assembly at the board's May meeting. Superintendent Dr. John Jungmann reviewed physical changes that will take place on the elementary campus that will be done over the summer. The north playground will be taken down and placed in storage. Students will use the south playground for the 2010-11 school year...
Child playing with lighter starts fire in Purdy (06/03/10)
Purdy firefighters responded to a house fire on Sunday afternoon and were able to contain the damage to a single bedroom. According to Purdy Fire Protection District Fire Chief Mike Redshaw, the fire was caused by a child playing with a lighter. "This reinforces the danger of children playing with flammables," said Redshaw.
