R-1 board awards construction contract (05/28/10)
The $7 million-plus contract to renovate and add to the Monett Elementary School has been awarded to R.E. Smith, one of two bidders with previous experience erecting school buildings in Monett. The Monett R-1 Board of Education opened bids on May 23 and discovered the competition had narrowed itself to Branco Enterprises, which built the high school, and Smith, which built the Southwest Area Career Center and renovated the Intermediate School...
Monett pool is now open (05/28/10)
The Monett Municipal Pool officially opens today, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. A crew of 34 lifeguards are trained and ready to man the facility, which is located in Monett's South Park. The pool is managed by the Monett Area YMCA who contracts with the city for the service. Sales tax generally lower in May (05/28/10)
Sales tax receipts for bi-county cities and county governments seem to have fallen into a pattern of up one month and down the next. In May, revenue was generally lower, though not enough to erase gains recorded in April. Total sales tax to the bi-county area, not counting Barry County's tax to run the 911 system, came to $971,068.60 in May, a drop of 5 percent from last May...
Verona educator is May Teacher of the Month (05/28/10)
