Bikers help out injured Monett police officer (03/18/10)
A Barry County club of motorcycle enthusiasts has presented a check for $200 to Monett Police Officer Alvin Zabala to help him through an extended layoff due to an on-the-job injury. Travis Hilburn, president of the Roaring River Crew, made the presentation. The fourth Leadership Monett class, sponsored by the Monett Chamber of Commerce, began this past week with a retreat to Camp Barnabas. Woman hurt in PC crash (03/18/10)
A Verona woman was seriously injured yesterday in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 2220 one mile east of Pierce City. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jamie E. Steele, 21, was transported to St. John's Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries after her 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Ashley Rexon, 23, of Pierce City, collided and both vehicles traveled off the roadway...

Hoopsters earn big honors (03/18/10)
The Monett Cubs landed two players on the All-Big 8 Conference team for 2010. Senior Kennon Cox was named to the second team, and senior Spenser Witt received honorable mention recognition. Cox also earned a place on the All-District team for his performance this season. In Big 8 games, Cox averaged 17 points, four rebounds and two assists per game this season...
It's a rebuilding year for MHS tennis team (03/18/10)
After losing their top five varsity players to graduation last spring, the Monett Cubs boys tennis team will be in a rebuilding year. According to Coach Bob Crain, the #1 and #2 players this season will be seniors Al Dohmen and Taylor Peterson respectively. Dohmen was the team's #6 in 2009 and has moved up the the top ranking. Purdy's White leads All-Ozarks 7 team (03/18/10)
