$6 million raised to date for YMCA campaign (03/15/10)
A total of $6 million has been pledged to date toward the construction of a new YMCA facility in Monett, according to an announcement made Monday by Mike Garrett and Mike Wallace, co-chairs of the Monett Area YMCA Capital Campaign. "The goal of this campaign is to build a state-of-the-art recreation, education and community facility to serve people in Barry and Lawrence counties," Garrett stated. ...
Library board keeps eye on finances (03/15/10)
As of Feb. 9, tax receipts for the Barry-Lawrence Library District totalled $1,164,216.33, according to Library Director Jean Berg who gave an update of the district's financial position at the library board's Feb. 11 meeting. Berg said the tax total represents a $202,945.21 shortfall in revenue for the library district since Senate Bill 711 went into effect last September. ...
Project planned at Jolly Mill (03/15/10)
Fundraising efforts are underway by the Jolly Mill Board to build the first substantial restroom facility for the popular recreational location. According to Lee Price, board president, the present restrooms attached to a nearby house are farther from the park activity and not handicapped accessible.
