AT&T settlement is passed on to customers (03/10/10)
Both wireless and landline customers of AT&T have received bills in the past month that include a charge for the settlement of litigation last year over unpaid franchise taxes. Monett City Administrator Dennis Pyle confirmed that Monett is among the 270 cities that sued AT&T where the phone company has opted to pass the settlement along to customers. Bills from the various phone companies now have a "municipal gross receipts charge" covering the future cost of paying the franchise tax to cities...
St. Pat's theme on tap for Friday's Broadway Nights (03/10/10)
Broadway Nights returns on Friday with a number of activities scheduled at participating downtown businesses in Monett. Live entertainment is again planned at the coffee houses. New administrator named to head up Barry Co. Health Dept. (03/10/10)
Roger Brock, of Cassville, began serving as the Barry County Health Department's new administrator on March 1. Brock has over 13 years of experience in public health. Barry County circuit court cases increased by 20 percent in 2009 (03/10/10)
It was a busy year for the Barry County court system according to a year-end report released this week by Barry County Circuit Clerk Craig Williams. Criminal division In 2009, there were 5,696 cases filed in the Barry County Circuit Clerk's Office, which is 20 percent more than the 4,708 cases filed in 2008. Of those cases filed in 2009, 1,342 were criminal cases, which is down 32 cases from the previous year...
Verona girls top Humansville in regionals, 64-54 (03/10/10)

Another cage fight planned in Purdy (03/10/10)
The Barry County Fight Club (BCFC) will be hosting another Cage Knockout event, featuring several popular local fighters, on Friday, March 19 at the old Last Dance bar along Highway 37 in Purdy.
