Severe weather drill scheduled for Tuesday (03/05/10)
Missouri's 36th annual state tornado drill will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 9. Local emergency management officials encourage Barry Countians to practice emergency plans next Tuesday. "The state tornado drill is intended to raise awareness about preparedness activities that go along with the severe weather season," said David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management director. Ambulance district reviews 2009 numbers (03/05/10)
The Barry-Lawrence Ambulance District Board will have a couple months of operational matters to address at its next meeting on March 9. Board members did not meet in February and spent time in January reviewing year-end numbers for 2009. Crews made 2,512 runs last year after making 230 trips in December, 2009, the busiest month since May.
