Trial of man accused of child murder delayed (02/10/10)

Area teen killed in one-car crash on I-44 (02/10/10)
A Mt. Vernon teenager died Monday evening in a one-vehicle crash a half mile east of Mt. Vernon on Interstate 44 in Lawrence County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sean W. School districts across the state are trying to figure out the ramifications of cuts in the state Parents as Teachers program. Last week Missouri Governor Jay Nixon withheld $2 million from the original $31 million appropriation, his second series of cuts to balance the state budget due to declining revenues. In addition, Nixon sent his budget proposal for the 2010-11 fiscal year to the legislature, recommending spending of $26,786,000, a drop of 14 percent from the 2009 budget...
MHS wrestlers place third at Diamond Dual (02/10/10)
With 48 points, the Monett Cubs defeated Anderson County, Kan., in the third place match at the Diamond Duel Tournament on Saturday. On the way to the third place match, Monett wrestlers beat Gentry, Ark., 57-24, in the first round of the tournament and then downed Central Heights, Kan., in the second round, 56-30. State ranked Strafford tops Monett (02/10/10)
The Strafford Indians brought their Class 3 state ranking to Monett on Tuesday night and left town with a 75-44 win over the Cubs. With a gaudy 18-2 season record, Strafford is gaining steam heading toward district play.
