New football coach hired by Monett R-1 board (Local News ~ 02/04/10)
Chad Depée will be the new head football coach for the Monett High School Cubs. Depée (pronounced DePAY) was hired by the Monett R-1 Board of Education in a special meeting on Monday, succeeding Alan Spencer, who is retiring. Depée has been the head football coach in El Dorado Springs, a 2A school, for the past four years. His teams had a record of 21 wins and 21 losses in his four seasons... -

A major sewage spill in Freistatt prompted discussion by the Freistatt Board of Trustees at the January meeting. A sewer line blockage developed in the main on the northwest side of town in a farm field. The source of the problem was never found, but it appeared to have developed near where three collection lines converged into the central main, the same location where a similar problem took place in 2007...
