Strong half leads to Cubs victory

Sales tax numbers take dip in January

Sales tax revenues for the bi-county area reversed the growing improvement seen in November and December for a noted retreat in January. Total income collected by bi-county cities and counties was down 8 percent from a year ago. Monett's two sales taxes for the general fund generated $149,338.59 in January, down 5 percent from a year ago. The total broke a two-month rebound after a nine-month slide against the previous year...

Law Co adopts $4.5 million budget for 2010

The Lawrence County Commission adopted the county's budget for 2010, which reflects $4.3 million in projected revenue and $4.5 million in anticipated expenditures that will leave the county with a deficit at the end of next year.
