Monett, Pierce City school bond issues on April ballot (01/28/10)

Bar Co commissioners approve smaller budget for 2010 with shrinking income (01/28/10)
The Barry County Commission adopted a very conservative budget for 2010 following a public hearing on Jan. 21. County officeholders will be operating under a $3.68 million spending plan, which is $52,205 less than requested. For the third consecutive year, the county was unable to give employee pay raises. Based on the 2010 budget message, the county is expecting their half-cent sales tax to generate $1,732,006, which is equal to 2009 sales tax receipts...

Frances Addeline Martin, 96, of McDowell, passed away at her home at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27. She was born on Dec. 5, 1913 in Cold Springs, Mo., to Robert and Irene (Barnard) Nall. She was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Martin in Raton, New Mexico on Feb. 3, 1936. They separated for eight years and divorced in 1958. They remarried on March 17, 1983 in McDowell and spent their remaining years together...
