PC aldermen are forced to make cutbacks (01/14/10)
A shortfall in funds prompted the city council in Pierce City to make unprecedented cutbacks during the January council meeting. Mayor Carol Hirsch told aldermen the city had average monthly bills of $23,041 and anticipated income in January of $15,764. Aldermen in November 2009 authorized a $20,000 loan that has to be paid back by April to cover an earlier shortfall...
Vacancy remains as filing winds down (01/14/10)
With one week to go before the closing of filings for the April 6 election, few candidates have added their names for consideration following the first week of filings last month. In the Monett R-1 School District, no candidates have filed since the first week. One-term incumbent Marty Scabarozi is running with second-time candidate Doug Childress and first-time candidates Darren Bass and Kenneth Gaspar for seats on the school board...
