Monett to receive more than $500,000 in settlement (12/09/09)
The City of Monett has signed a $522,015 settlement with the Alltel phone company for back taxes, bringing the total settlement with cellular phone providers in the city to $650,000 and securing future tax payments. The settlement came last week after several years of negotiations. Cell phone providers cut off payments of the 5 percent business license tax four years ago, initially claiming cell phones were not telephones but two-way radios...
Dedication completed for new highway interchange in Mt. Vernon (12/09/09)
Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held on Monday for the new highway interchange with Interstate 44 in Mt. Vernon. The $10.6 million project, with the bridge visible in the background, received $4 million in federal funds earmarked by Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt.
