Monett City Council drops lawsuit over county 911 (07/08/09)
The Monett City Council agreed to drop a lawsuit over Barry County's 911 system and keep options open as participants in a class-action lawsuit over telephone taxes. The lawsuit filed by the city with the Barry County Emergency Services Board over 911 service is on the dismissal docket in Barry County Circuit Court. Karl Blanchard, the Joplin attorney hired to represent the city in the matter, recommended allowing the case to be dismissed...
Wheaton depot to celebrate grand opening at annual community barbecue Saturday (07/08/09)
The Wheaton Historical Society will hold a grand opening celebration at the Wheaton Depot Museum from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on July 11. The event will be held in conjunction with the annual Wheaton Barbecue. Monett girls teams in all age groups performed well and advanced in the 2009 Babe Ruth State Tournaments held recently in Monett.
