Party resulting in alcohol poisoning lands Monett man behind bars (05/20/09)
A Monett man will be spending a few weekends in jail after admitting he hosted a party that ended in the alcohol poisoning death of a local teenager. Joseph H. Rattles, 22, pleaded guilty to eight counts of knowingly allowing or failing to stop a person under the age of 21 from drinking or possessing intoxicating liquor. Last week, Rattles was sentenced to serve eight days shock jail time during weekends, which began on May 15. He was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service...

Graffiti suspects caught (05/20/09)
A group of 13 people ranging in age from 12 to 18 were charged with felony stealing in connection to a rash of property damage in the Monett area. According to a report issued by the Monett Police Department, 11 juveniles and two adults have been questioned and charged for their involvement in property damage that included spray painting gang-style graffiti on garages, fences, school and public property and dumpsters...
License offices go out for bid (05/20/09)
Four license offices in Barry and Lawrence counties that contract with the Missouri Department of Revenue are currently up for bid. Bid proposals are being accepted for offices in Monett, Cassville, Aurora and Mt. Vernon. Earlier this year, Gov.
