Festival of Lights begins

The ninth annual Festival of Lights, a holiday tradition sponsored by the Monett Chamber of Commerce and the City of Monett, is underway through the end of December at Monett's South Park. A total of 29 lighting displays are showing.

The lighted hillside at Monett's South Park hails passing motorists on Highway 60, beaconing them to come and see the Monett Chamber of Commerce's Festival of Lights, which remains on display through December.

Many Monett community groups and businesses are taking turns serving as elves for the Monett Chamber of Commerce's Festival of Lights. The elves distribute candy canes to the festival visitors and accept donations. On Nov. 26, a team from U.S. Bank served their shift. Everyone enjoys a sweet treat in appreciation for what they do. Monett Police Officer Don Massengill accepted a candy cane from Sydney Medley at the Festival of Lights at Monett's South Park. Parents Justin and Nikki Medley, at right, looked on.
