The Monett High School Student Senate hosted its annual dinner for district senior citizens, the Golden Age Banquet, on Nov. 15 at Monett High School.
There was a full house during the Golden Age Dinner, held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Monett High School. The Monett High School Stu-dent Council and the Monett R-1 Board of Education sponsored the event. Pictured above, are approximately 250 guests that filled the dining hall at Monett High School. The meal included turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, hot rolls, beverages and dessert.

Several guests at the annual Golden Age Dinner were awarded certificates during the event, held Thursday, Nov. 15. In the front row, from left, are: Sonny Drake, for the most pets with 25; Ruth Williams, for being the person who has attended the annual Golden Age Dinner the longest, 39 out of 39 years; Dorothy Greenman, for having the most great-grandchildren, with 55; and Floyd Vanderhoef, for being the oldest American veteran hero at 93 years old, having fought in WWII and Korea.
In the back row: Paul and Pat Kaiser, for being the newest newlyweds at 15 months; and John Heese for havingb the oldest car, a 1931 Ford Model A. Not pictured is the couple winning the certificate for being married the longest, Ray and Margaret Kerr, at 70 years, and the oldest graduate of Monett High School, Ray Kerr, Class of 1941. "It was a very nice evening and one that is always special to the students at MHS," said event sponsor Pam Schmidt. "We had 115 student volunteers this year. They look forward to it every year."
