The Golden Age Games, an annual competition for residents of area nursing facilities, were held on Oct. 19 at Monett High School.
Fern Swisher, Keith Johnston and Shara K. Wilson, representing Benchmark Healthcare of Monett, provided a bright splash of color with their wigs and adornments at the annual Golden Age Games on Friday. The trio were waiting their turns in competitions such as milking, hog calling, wheelchair racing and basketball.

State Representative Don Ruzicka, from District #132, was one of the official judges at the annual Golden Age Games, held Friday, Oct. 19 in Monett. "I think the hog calling and wheelchair races are my favorites, Ruzicka said. "They get really competitive." This is the fourth year Ruzicka has served as a judge at the event. "It's a lot of fun, and love seeing their smiles," he said.

Aloha! Residents and staffers at Golden Living Center in Anderson, were geared up and ready to compete at this year's Golden Age Games in Monett. Bringing home the bacon, Gracie Roberts, of Aurora Nursing Center, gave her best hog call during the Golden Age Games that took place Friday in Monett. Competitors in this contest showed varying levels of farm acumen, using techniques ranging from bribery to shouts of "Soooooooouuuuuey!" to call the porkers home.
